Anushka Sharma moved to Mumbai to study in Elite Model Management and be prepared under the supervision by style advisor Prasad Bidapa. Her first appearance as a fashion model was in 2017 after she modelled for Wendell Rodricks at Lakme Fashion Week followed by being selected by Rodricks to appear in his spring-summer 2007 collection. Anushka Sharma has been involved in several brand campaigns since her Lakme Fashion Week debut. They include ads for Fiat Palio and Fiat Whisper Nathella Jewelry. Anushka started auditioning films as an actor and attended an acting class alongside her career as model. In 2008 Anushka Sharma began her acting career with the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan. She took one day to prepare for her screen test and refused to perform an impromptu version. Later, she signed up to film three times with Yash Raj Films. In one of them, she played the role of a young, middle-aged bride man (the character Shah Rukh Khan was playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka was in 2010's "Badmash Company" together with Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang, Vir Das. The film received mixed reviews. Anushka appeared as an Punjabi girl from the middle class in a film called 'Band Baaja Baaraat. Anushka was in the film with Ranveer. The movie was a huge success and was praised by the critics. Anushka's 3-film contract at Yash Raj Films ended with the release of Band Baaja Baaraat.
